Beavercreek Dominates Xenia

Here We Go! Today (Monday, November 23, 2015) is the day. Ever since Xenia High School’s (XHS) 2015-2016 Girls’ Basketball Schedule was released, this is the day that I have been highly-anticipating. Whenever I first view the XHS Girls’ Basketball Schedule (every single year), there is one game which I immediately look for. The Beavercreek High School (BHS) Beavers is the opponent’s name which I seek out. After mentioning the name of BHS, do I really even need to say anything else? If you have been a regular follower of my “Sports Zone” Column, you have read my words which describe the rivalry between XHS and BHS. Allow me to correct myself. In order to know anything about the rivalry, you do not even have to be a regular follower of my column. I will tell you exactly what to do. Go to: www.xeniaword.com. When you get there, do some research. Look up my coverage of any athletic activity which includes XHS vs. BHS. Also, some of my other columns mention the rivalry too. XHS vs. BHS is not just your common, normal, every day “Sports Feud.” The intensity which the rivalry contains is like no other. The rivalry is very intense. On the court and/or field, you can easily notice that aspect. If the athletes of today’s ensuing game are not ready for this contest, then they have no business (whatsoever) being on The Blue Pit Basketball Court! Of course, I am quite certain that all of these young ladies will be ready for this game. If not, then I am about to find out.

Xenia won the game’s tip-off. At 7:44, Beavercreek was penalized for a Defensive Foul. Thirteen seconds later (7:31), XHS turned the ball over. Soon thereafter, BHS missed a 2-Point Basket. Then, the Lady Beavers committed 1-Turnover. With 6:57 on the clock, the game’s first points were scored. The Lady Buccaneers’ Cora Stevens made a 2-Point Basket. Soon, BHS got onto the scoreboard. The Lady Beavers’ Jaelyn Bean nailed a 3-Point Basket (6:21). After the Lady Buccaneers turned the ball over, Jaelyn Bean found herself at the Free Throw Line (6:11). She successfully made 2-Foul Shots. From 5:59 to 5:46, BHS committed a Defensive Foul. XHS’s Stevens was penalized for an Offensive Foul. With 5:35 remaining in the 1st Quarter, Jaelyn Bean made two more Foul Shots. XHS went on to turn the ball over again. Then, a Timeout was called (4:56). Jaelyn Bean cannot be stopped. She has scored all of her team’s points. By the score of 7-2, BHS leads XHS.

After the Timeout, the Lady Buccaneers committed 2-Turnovers (4:43 and 4:23). The Lady Beavers made them pay. From 4:12 to 2:14, BHS went on a 7-2 Scoring Run. During the run, XHS turned the ball over twice. Sandwiched in-between 3-Lady Buccaneers’ Turnovers, Jaelyn Bean hit a 2-Point Basket. From 1:19 to 18.2 Seconds, the Lady Beavers’ Keaira Youngblood scored 5-Points. Before the quarter ended, each team committed a Traveling Violation. At the end of the 1st Quarter, BHS leads XHS 21-4. Beavercreek’s Defense has clamped down on Xenia’s Offense. The Lady Beavers are not allowing anything. XHS has way too many turnovers. Turnovers are hurting the Lady Buccaneers. While BHS has turnovers too, turnovers are not hurting the Lady Beavers. As the 2nd Quarter got underway, XHS had possession of the ball. Unfortunately, the Lady Buccaneers turned the ball over (7:48).

At the 7:11 mark, XHS’s Jada Wallace made 1-Foul Shot. Then, BHS’s Michaela Rhoades made 1-Foul Shot. From 6:28 to 5:20, the Lady Buccaneers committed 3-Turnovers. The Lady Beavers committed 1-Turnover. Before a Timeout (3:57), each team turned the ball over once. However, BHS went on a 6-0 run. Braelyn Bean and Maddi Shannon each nailed a 3-Point Basket. At an alarming rate, XHS continues to turn the ball over. In order to widen its lead, BHS is starting to utilize the 3-Point Basket. BHS leads XHS 28-5. With 3:41 remaining before Halftime, the Lady Buccaneers’ Defense blocks a shot in the paint. XHS goes on to score 4-Points. However, one problem exists. BHS’s Offense scored 6-Points. After the Lady Buccaneers commit 2-Turnovers, Wallace and her teammate Tarah Crawford both miss Free Throw Attempts.

During the last 58.6 Seconds of the First Half, each team turns the ball over. Each team misses Foul Shots too. With 18.4 Seconds remaining, BHS’s Rachel Mitchell makes a 2-Point Basket. At the end of the First Half, BHS leads XHS 36-9. At an enormous rate, the Lady Buccaneers continue to commit turnovers. Also, the Lady Buccaneers cannot make Free Throw Attempts. The team is still having trouble scoring. XHS cannot capitalize off of BHS’s mistakes. The Lady Beavers’ mistakes are not hurting them. I have never witnessed a defense have a better First Half than that of BHS’s Defense. As the 3rd Quarter got underway, each team committed 2-Turnovers. From 7:05 to 6:16, BHS outscores XHS 5-0. From 6:26 to 5:09, XHS commits 3-Turnovers. BHS commits 1-Turnover. With 4:42 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, XHS calls a Timeout. At this point, both teams are committing multiple turnovers.

Four seconds after the Timeout (4:38), the Lady Buccaneers turned the ball over. Then, the Lady Beavers go on an 8-0 run. Alexa Low scored 4-Points. From 2:06 to 52.2 Seconds, the Lady Buccaneers committed 4-Turnovers. The Lady Beavers committed 2-Turnovers. During the final 48.6 Seconds of the 3rd Quarter, XHS turned the ball over twice. BHS went on a 6-0 run. Mitchell scored 4-Points. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, BHS possessed a commanding 54-10 lead. With possession of the ball, BHS started the 4th Quarter. The Lady Beavers proceeded to go on a 14-2 run. Cori Dilsavor hit two 3-Point Baskets. Rhoades scored 4-Points. BHS’s lead stood at 68-12. With 5:10 remaining in the game, a Timeout was called.

During the game’s final 5:00, XHS committed 3-Turnovers. BHS outscored XHS 12-8. By the Final Score of 80-20, XHS suffered a very embarrassing Home Loss to its archrival (BHS). From start to finish, BHS completely dominated XHS. What more can I really say? The Final Score says enough. It tells the whole story.
